The Levity Project is a social movement to foster buoyancy, laughter, play, and freedom as the new paradigm in social design.  We engage in public acts of levity in which people gather in a flash setting to en-lighten the energy of a public place and those within it.  They are designed to foster a sense of lightness and connection to all who are present.

The goal is to bring people together who see themselves as agents of change toward creating a an upward spiral of positivity in our world.  We want to  create a deeper understanding that joy, play, laughter, and freedom are integral to individual and collective success.

How it began:

The Levity Project was started by Katie West after seeing the immense changes in her clients as The

Levity Coach.  Taking a radical approach to coaching which first encourages pursuing laughter, play, and celebration as the fuel towards achieving goals,  Katie realized that coaching her clients was not enough to create systemic social change. She knew that the concept of levity and its importance needed to be more widespread and easily accessible to everyone.

The idea for The Levity Project came to Katie while on a business trip to NYC when found herself laughing on a train much to the surprise of the fellow riders.  Those that were able to stop frowning at the extraordinary experience were able to join her in smiling and laughing joyfully.

This inspired her to create a series of social experiments that would encourage people to laugh, play and celebrate in public places in order to create a shift in the energy of the place and the people present.

She knew instantly by the unanimously positive response to the first event of The Levity Project, a Laughter Flash, that this was something our world needed.

It is her hope that The Levity Project becomes a worldwide phenomenon inspiring global social change towards lightness, buoyancy, and peace as we find our interconnectedness through joy.

Katie is happy to announce the recent appointment of Ina Lukas as Operations Manager.  Ina brings a wealth of knowledge and positive, fabulous energy to the The Levity Project.
