Monday Magic: What is giving YOU hope today?

by Katie on March 1, 2010

Every day has moments of celebration and moments of challenge.  Somedays have more celebration and others have more challenge.  And the beauty of it all is that we wake up and keep being, and keep offering what magic we have inside of us to the rest of the world.  The best part is sometimes the magic we have in us…the magic that we don’t even know is magic yet, helps someone else.  This magic, that happens just by us being, gives someone else hope.

In this way, we are all touching each other like some grand game of childhood “Electricity,”  where my hand holds your hand and your hand holds someone else’s hand, and that next person or the person after that, gets out of “jail” free.

All because we were willing to hold on to each other.  When we are willing to hold on, we give each other hope.  And when we have hope, we are not alone.  And when we know we are not alone, we give our magic away freely and it comes back infinitely to us.

What is giving YOU hope today?

I like the one about the old man with the lasso. I hope I’m wise like that when I get to be old. Maybe I need to listen to country music more! thanks for the smiles!

Two things give me hope today.

A note I received – from someone I didn’t know – telling me, for the first time in days…she smiled. Gives me hope, that there is always light out there….

Going back a year, and something I hold onto very closely. I dropped my son off at the bus stop. It was a cold winter day. Two little neighbor girls were at the bus stop already. The little first grade girl was having trouble getting her mittens on. Hands cold. And he took his mittens off, to help her get hers on. Gives me hope that kindness is something deep within us.

Katie,
I think this is your best ever and I love the title. Jan from awake is good left on my blog yesterday that Anne Frank didn’t sit around waiting for the world to get better and hoping something would change. Instead she lived in the moment and found happiness. There are a lot of blogs about happiness but I still think she ranks no. 1 for all time happiness.

I like the one about the couple in the nursing home. My mom is nearly 90 and I see happiness in 95% of the people there. That’s what gives me hope.

I’ve been married to the same person since I was 17…38 years. I hope we are still walking hand in hand when we reach those beyond golden years and days.

You brought tears of happiness to my eyes with this video. Thank you for sharing it today, Katie.
Humans are amazing creatures, and when we let our lights shine through, magic happens.

Hi Katie:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and this really positive video. I know this is not a deep answer, but the fact that spring is coming (along with baseball season) really gives me hope. Also, I’ve been making some really interesting connections in my life in recent weeks…this also gives me a great deal of hope.

We have each other. That is what is most important. We can’t ever forget that. Thanks Katie.

Well, this post certainly gave me happiness today! I wish the headlines contained more of these beautiful stories, because they happen every second. There is happiness all around. We just need to capture it. Thanks for sharing…

thank you for taking the time to share … the moments of not only giving gifts, but receiving them … wrapped in emotion and possibility that make a forever lasting difference.
I smiled and moved a tear … and it reminded me of the sweetness in life. Cheryl D

@Erik I think you will be. You already are.

@Lance Oh the story of your son warms my heart. Perhaps it is the unexpected part of kindness and joy that gives us hope. Knowing people like you gives me hope.

@Tess Thanks for your kind words and I will definitely check out Jan’s blog. What beautiful inspiration you and your husband are. Thank you for sharing…smiles.

@Megan Humans like yourself are VERY beautiful. You give people hope every day.

@Tim I love that you said baseball season and spring. I have been dreaming of my tulips emerging for months now. There is something about the cycles of the year that always promises newness and hope.

@Karl Thanks. Very wise words from a wise soul.

@Cordie B I am with you and that is part of the mission of The Levity Project and The Levity Institute. Create more joyful stories! If you hear of them, please email me and I will post. Cheers to you on the levity path!

@Cheryl ….the sweetness of life. What a perfect phrase. Sure there can be sourness or difficulty, but for me it is those sweet moments that somehow make it all make sense.

Katie. You always find the best videos that leave me laughing and crying at the same time.

The part about the the elderly couple at the check-out and he says “I found what I needed 43 years ago.” That is so like something my husband would say!! My hubby gives me such hope for everyone he comes in contact with — he’s the kind of guy who so fun and freindly and truly caring. That he’s in my life always gives me hope that all will be okay.

Hoping you are well on your journey tonight, Sweet Lovely Katie.
