@Evelyn I love that "vibes up!" It may just become my new saying when I find the "grumpys" coming....It kind of reminds me of "Surfs Up!" The reminder to ride the wave of life!

@Tess Thank you for telling me about your parents. That made me cry too. It is so important to remember as I go in and laugh at retirement communities that many of those people are parents and it is a way to bring the love from their children to them..Wow...what a great perspective! Thank you Tess!

@Farouk Thanks for visiting!!!

@Jason Great to see you here as I have been thinking about you guys! "Wrinkled Kid" That is just about the most fabulous thing I have heard all week. Almost like the wrinkles mark all the kid adventures that have been had a long the way.

@ Jannie That means so much to me. So many times I will go to your blog late at night and you give me the fuel to get my project done and make me feel the warm fuzzy inside that we are all in this together. Thank you for being here Jannie.

@Karl I could not agree more-let us all share away!

@Tim Yeah! I love the thought of you laughing more this year! How can things go wrong when that is on our list? May you define your success by your laughter!

Recently a slightly-past-middle-aged woman who was at one of my speaking programs referred to herself as a "wrinkled kid." I loved it. It's proof -- as is this post -- that we're all kids, even if we don't look like the standard model we're accustomed to seeing :)

Katie,
This is one of my favorite posts. I can't wait to read your book! I love what you did in that nursing home. My dad died in July and my mom is still living in the same place. I know the joy they feel when people do programs and music for them.

Your post made me cry as well. And the video, I laughed and thought this is so what the world needs. You do awesome work and you inspire me!

I enjoyed reading the account of your day at the retirement community. I hope never to forget to laugh, even when I turn elderly! You are certainly doing great work by reminding all of us to keep our vibes up!! Way to go!

Hi Katie:

Awesome post...good to hear how you were able to spread some joy to people that really needed it. Your imagery exercise sounds really cool...reminds me of a few exercises from an old improv class. In any case, I've made a conscious decision to laugh more this year...I have this gut feeling that by doing this, it will take care of a lot of things in my life. Cool video too. Have a good day!

@Lance...you are right....it simplified joy for me. Like a big message from the universe...Joy, just do it. And back at you buddy-cheers to being joy spreaders!(kind of sounds like the world is one big PB and J)
@Amanda It was! And it was so nice to see you on Friday!

@Linda Ha Ha! Hoe do I adore you and your zest...let me count the ways. I feel grateful to have such effective tools for getting this message out to the world!

@Megan. Thank you for your sweet words...I write simply what comes to me so when I wrote that about time and truth I sat back thinking "yeah, I dig that...it feels real" Looks like we are on the same wavelength which is an honor as I love your energy!

Sounds like they really needed some good laughter. I love that they suggested to go into the dining room and help others. That's when laughter is at its best - when we are sharing it with others.

You are changing the world, making it a better place. That's a gift. I hope more and more opportunities come your way.

Katie, this whole post made my cry for how sweet you are and how you brought joy into the day of those elderly people, joy which I am sure will live on in them.

I'm not sure why this touched me so much, I guess because we will all be old someday (if we are lucky enough to make it there healthily and with support and love surrounding us,) and to think you gave so deeply of yourself to bring them living memories of things they loved to do, is just the best sweetest, most caring thing I've read in a long long time.

Do you have any idea just how special you are??
