I was actually in the middle of writing a post about Car Dancing For World Peace when I saw this video (don’t worry I’ll still post the other!) and had to post it. It has been out for a little bit, but here is why it is a gem.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” -Warren Buffett
More than ever before, we have the ability to come together. The limits of time and space are irrelevant. The only limit on the power we can create together is our collective imagination and willingness. Sound lofty? I don’t think so. Ask the Millienials.
This week, I had more than one business owner talk with me about Generation Y and how to reach them. They were perplexed. Each time, it made me pause in awe for this upcoming generation.
We are entering a world where oneness matters, connection leads to collaboration, and rising together for a purpose is a shared value. And Generation Y is leading all of us there. They are visionaries synthesizing the previous generations’ skills into one unified force. They have the unique ability to see through what is inauthentic and demand what is real.
And my favorite thing above all is that they understand the value of levity as a way to lead. This generation is here to show us that work and play go hand in hand. And that together, we can get farther than if we go it alone.
For me, the question that is sparked as I see the leaders of this generation emerge is,
What do we want this world to look like when we finally come to realize we are all one?
It may still take generations before we experience a completely connected and peaceful world, but the time has come in which we should start imagining it.
Enjoy this video a great example of what the power of 21,000 people working together looks like.
(this is the second version…this one was pulled!)

You are so right. When I think of the conversations that course through the office where I work, it often includes “if you want to figure out how that works, go ask a teenager”. Of the “older crowd”, from probably 35 on up, there is a contentedness too about watching to see what the younger generation does with all this. It’s like we see that they have tremendous power and they don’t see it yet. And, at least in my office, we are pleasantly surprised now and then as they do something that we didn’t think was possible, or assume something that we would never assume. It’s probably been like this for every generation, but with the assistance of community building technology, it’s power and speed is unprecedented. And that young energy has a conduit like never before.
Wow! That was one of the coolest videos I’ve seen in awhile. When we work together there is nothing that we can’t accomplish.
If we focus our energy we can clean up this earth. Give it the treatment and love that it deserves. We have to use the tools at our disposal. Gen Y is leading the way.
Katie,
And to think…once that song and dance was complete, there were 21,000 people going back out into their worlds with spirits soaring! And you know, that their contagious enthusiasm flowed to others not there as well. How cool is that! And then…there’s just a whole lot of energy in that connectedness – positive and uplifting energy.
The dream is getting closer…
I love it! Participatory theater at its best and so contagious. We created the wrold we live in together. Everyone is jointly responsible and that means we can all co-create the new world. Cool beans Katie!
When we finally not only realize but live our oneness daily, the world will unite in our Creator’s common aspirations for all of us: To achieve identity with the Higher Self, to end our despair of separation and loneliness, to love ourselves and others as the children of God on our way to co-create with God.
That is incredible, and I love how you talked about Generation “Y.” I, too, used to work in a place where the leadership didn’t understand those crazy kids! How to reach them, why they were so different, how to get them to be “more like us.” What you said shows me that it’s not about getting them to be anything other than what they are, and they are, indeed, unifiers. Wow! Just … Wow!
Thank you for this important post.
I want to be that girl in the front:-)
Oh dear I missed the video. I love your entire view of the millenials and find it very exciting! Yes!
I don’t agree with it having to take generations to have a completely peaceful world. Let’s make it happen sooner than that!
I saw this recently, and yes, my thought was, “wow, look at the power of people coming together”. In a lesser way, I feel that same unity of spirit in the air around the holidays. But then it fades as soon as it’s over. Bummer
I’m late to the party, and the video is not available! People coming together indeed is a critical part of our future. I have been thinking about this a lot in the past few weeks…how we interact, communicate, respect (or in many cases disrespect). It all comes down to people.
Oh noes, video no longer available. ): Harpo needs more moneys?
Every generation beautiful and wonderful, from A to Z. I’m told I’m a fine example of Generation F, for Funster.
Goes off singing…
“People, people who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world…”
