For those of you who missed the last month’s blog post and video of the July Laughter Flash in the “15 Minutes with The Levity Project” series…here is the video again!
The idea behind the Laughter Flash in the “15 Minutes series” is that when we laugh, we change. And when we change, the world around us changes.
Yes, I know it is so simple. And I think that that is why it works. The “15 minutes with The Levity Project” is a series of social experiments that seek to create levity in public places in order to create systemic change in the way we see and experience our lives. Levity is not about changing our situation so much as it is about allowing us to rise above our situation. We become buoyant and lighter than that which surrounds us.
The Laughter Flash is an opportunity for people to come together for a common purpose of creating a lighter and more playful world. it does not matter whether they have done this before or if they know anyone there. It does not matter if someone feels like they have a lot of laughter in their life or none at all. This is an opportunity to join together for a shift in our world.
Laughter is an express train to the present moment. When we are laughing we aren’t worrying about what just happened or stressing about what is to come. We are here in the present moment together. That is powerful. And well, a lot of fun.
A helpful note is to know that our brain does not know the difference between real and fake laughter. So by throwing back your head and practicing laughter, you are helping yourself feel as good as you do when you experience a real belly laugh. Not to mention, you usually start really laughing anyway!
Please join us on August 22nd at 12:00pm(EST) and Laugh for 15 Minutes! if you are in Maine, we are meeting at The Landing Center for Healing Arts in Portland, ME at 11:45am and will move to a To Be Announced location that is going to be wildly fun and VERY public…yahooo! we are going big folks!
And if you can’t get to Maine, please head up your own “15 Minutes with The Levity Project” and contact Katie to tell her about it. If you want to be included with what we are doing, film yourselves doing it and we will include you in our video and would love to talk with you.
A couple of rockin’ folks that are doing just that: Lance at Jungle of Life and Kim and Jason from Escape Adulthood are putting together their own “15 Minutes with The Levity Project” : Laughter Flash in Madison, WI. They are gathering a big troop together to laugh at 11:00 CT (at the same time as us in Maine). And if you are nearby them, definitely GO! Lance, Kim and Jason are some of the coolest people I have ever met! Contact Lance or Kim and Jason if in Wisconsin.
Want to join in on August 22nd at 12:00 EST but don’t know how to go about organizing a big thing? No worries! Just do it alone or with a friend! And send us news of how it felt and what you did and heck, video yourself and send it our way!
Any further questions? Contact Katie.
And join in this movement to inspire play, laughter, and buoyancy in our society so that we can all live lives of greater levity.
Peace out Beansprouts ’cause we are all in this together!

This is a great concept. I never knew that laughter whether manufactured or real has the same effect. That’s awesome.
I’m in. I’ll be doing it in Austin TX. Maybe I can convince my wife to join in.
Lance, Yahooo! Thanks for living the dream. I can not wait to hear how it goes for all of you!
Miz, Thanks for visiting! I hope you come back and laugh along with us!
Karl, I know isn’t that wild about our brains not knowing the difference? I actually have two other people in Austin TX who are doing it! If you do, send me a video…
I will be with you in spirit … laughing my ass off!
Laughter must release some healing and anti-aging properties through our bloodstreams.
